Upland

Description

The Upland Vineyard is located in the newly approved Snipes Mountain AVA, in the heart of the Yakima Valley. Originally planted in 1917, this vineyard is still bearing fruit from the original plantings. The unique site is a testament to the favorable weather conditions bestowed upon the mountain. With slopes facing in all cardinal directions and an elevation that ranges from 750 to 1300 feet, Upland Vineyard is able to grow a wide range of grapes in some of the oldest and most diverse soils in Washington State. Soil deposits are composed of gravels and sediments left by ancient river beds that the Columbia River once followed. These deposits range in size from fist size to large cantaloupes.
